Steve Lu, traditional and modern Chinese artist, born 1919
This gallery displays the original paintings by traditional and modern Chinese artist, Steve Lu, student of the great master, Zhang Daqian. Some of the paintings are in the collection of Lu’s daughter, Lily. Below are some exhibitions of paintings and calligraphy by Steve Lu.
Straits Times, April 3, 1967, Singapore, reported Lu's art exhibition held at the Chinese Chamber of Commerce: “Well-known artist to open oriental art institution”.
Nanyang Siang Pau (南洋商报), November 15, 1975, Singapore, reported Lu's exhibition held at the National Library of Singapore: “Opening of Steve Lu’s Art Gallery”.
At the Za Huo Hang Hall, Ipoh, Malaysia, in April 1976.
At The Dewan Sri Pinang, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia, in June 1976.
At Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum, Johor Bahru, Malaysia in December 1976.
This exhibition, at the Central Atrium, Raffles City, Singapore, was held between January-February 1988. It included "live" art demonstrations by Lu and watched by over 5,000 guests.
From the 70s through 2015, Lu had a permanent art exhibition in his gallery, Cathay Art Gallery, on Orchard Road, Singapore.
